great area – light decline

Glaswegian producer Murray Collier (who released that Sunny Balm record in 2019 on Lindsay Todd’s Sacred Summits) takes his dubwise beat tape project Dip Friso into more instrumental territory with a little help from friends including Still House Plants vocalist Jess HK and 12th Isle’s Loris S. Sarid and Innis Chonnel. Post-punk, blues, shoegaze, and Vini Reilly-esque guitar musings all play some informative part here, but these hazy beat experiments actually feel more connected sonically to dubwise productions or Trilogy Tapes left-field dance music with plenty of spring reverb and echo. Recommended for fans of 12th Isle, YL Hooi, Tirzah, Tara Clerkin Trio!
