Mexican musician and composer Eblen Macari has been actively developing his unique musical style for more than 40 years, from the 1970s to the present. He is most known for his cult classic experimental ambient album Música Para Planetarios, which was reissued in 2018 by Seance Centre. Originally released on CD-only in 1997, Ambar is another sublime work from the Mexican composer featuring minimal guitar, percussion, and synth topographies. For this album, Macari was inspired by the sound of his newly acquired 8-string guitar as the well as the ecology of the trees used in the making of the unique instrument. The ECM works of Ralph Towner and Egberto Gismonti, whom Macari greatly admires, is reflected in these intricate sonic tapestries.
