Edgar Froese – Pinnacles
Featured in the “Cosmic” section of Chee Shimizu’s Obscure Sound disc guide, Pinnacles is the cult classic sixth solo album from Tangerine Dream’s Edgar Froese. Inspired by the Australian outback, the album pays homage to the mysterious desert sands and bizarre stones found in the Pinnacles Desert with gentle synthesizer melodies, atmospheric sequences, and rolling drum machine grooves. The 22-minute title track suite is Froese’s longest composition and a classic. Also important to note, Pinnacles was the first album Froese recorded with his own 16-track tape setup and his last solo album for the next twelve years…
