Exotics – Library

Experiments With Ice were a short-lived English coldwave band that released one self-titled album on United Diaries subsidiary Experimental Records in 1981. Not much else is known about the band. Their sound relies heavily on complicated drum machine programming and ARP synthesizer. Highlights include A1 “Tokio” which bounces along a bubbling one-note synthesizer sequence and a similarly repetitive, but seriously addictive bassline groove. B4 “Circus Circus” centers around a hypnotic ARP synth melody with some piano and guitar stabs cutting through at key moments. There’s also an uneasy sort of dissonance in some of the sections that perfectly encapsulates the mad circus vibe.
