After two successful albums with Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Joe Farrell, and her husband Airto Moreira as Return to Forever, Flora Purim launched her solo career on New York based jazz label Milestone. “The Queen of Brazilian Jazz”‘s third album on the label, Open Your Eyes You Can Fly, features an all-star cast of fusion musicians including George Duke, Ron Carter, Leon “Ndugu” Chancler, Hermeto Pascoal, Egberto Gismonti, and her husband Airto. The music is signature Purim-style latin fusion, though slightly more optimistic and accessible than her previous works, and includes a mixture of Chick Corea and Hermeto Pascoal compositions.
