Kinothek Percussion Ensemble – Adventure
A private press oddity from Kinothek Percussion Ensemble, a conceptual project by composer DNA Hoover which focused on releasing visually provocative music, catalogued by dramatic mood. The concept was based on the principle of Kinothek, which was developed in 1919 by Italian composer Guiseppe Becce who published “Kinobibliothek,” a catalogue of imaginary film scores from which theatre music directors could use to accompany their films. 1987’s Adventure pairs deep organic percussion grooves along with found objects and ’80s digital synthesizers for a DIY sort of outernational sound, not too far off from the music of Vito Ricci, Roberto Musci, Eblen Macari, Finis Africae, etc.
