Larkin – Moments Empowered
Larkin Stentz is an American composer, flutist, and author based in Long Beach, Washington. Part of the early ’80s New Age movement, Stentz released a number of “healing music” albums including Inner Sanctum, which was featured in the New Age Music Guide. Moments Empowered was released two years after that classic and features the Serge synthesizer, an early analogue modular synthesizer system developed at CalArts that has been compared to Buchlas, which was borrowed from another new age pioneer Michael Stearns. From the liner notes: “It is my wish that after listening you are more fully empowered to spread the light of which you shine so the world may have peace everlasting. The motivation for this recording is the light source from which all my music emanates – to this source I am eternally grateful.” “Two Souls Dance,” in particular, is a gorgeous floating journey through atmospheric textures and penny whistle.
