Mark Isham – Vapor Drawings
At the advent of the CD-era when recorded music was headed in a digital direction, William Ackerman’s Windham Hill produced records that were an entirely analog affair. Perhaps this is why the label’s releases have experienced a resurgence in recent years and seem to even sound better over time. Mark Isham’s solo debut Vapor Drawings is a quintessential release and the first “electronic” album on the seminal new age label. With a tapestry of ambient dreamscapes and sparsely timbered instrumentation, Isham sends listeners on an atmospheric journey into the vastness of their soul and imagination. With track titles like “In the Blue Distance” and “Raffles in Rio,” the album is new age escapism at its best!
