Miles – Panthalassa: The Music Of Miles Davis 1969-1974

Panthalassa marks a return to some of the most important recordings of Miles Davis’ passionate and controversial “electric” period of the early 1970s. Conceived by producer Bill Laswell as a modern mix translation and reconstruction in sound, this unprecedented project features newly restored performances and never-before-heard extended themes from In A Silent Way (1969), On The Corner (1972) and Get Up With It (1974) – all taken from the original multitrack tapes. Much like his Dreams of Freedom: Ambient Translations of Bob Marley in Dub, Laswell’s reconstructions of these iconic Miles sessions explore a more atmospheric and spiritual sound featuring extended ambient sections, drones, previously obscured instruments, and reimagined basslines played by the ambient dub master himself.
