Mr. Fingers – Amnesia

A seminal masterpiece that marked “both the beginning and the end of the first era of house music and signaling the advent of the second phase of Heard’s work,” Amnesia is a collection of deeply melodic instrumental tracks that would come to define the sound of “deep house.” Composed with little more than a drum machine and a few keyboards, the tracks here embody the essence of house with simplistic, but immediately trance-inducing rhythms, melodies, and harmonies. Openers “Can You Feel It” and “Washing Machine” are quintessential Larry Heard offering both sides of the artist: his deeper, emotional side and his hard-hitting acid rhythm side. Essential!
