With a name like OM, it comes as no surprise that this band has the ability to lull you into a mesmerizing trancelike state. On Advaitic Songs the low ebb power duo of Cisneros and Amos (formerly of Sleep), are found once again exploring the influences of Abrahamism and Eastern Orthodox religions to further propel their experimental doom rock out of the earthly realm. OM’s combination of spiritual mysticism and low frequency drone has a unique ability to transport the listener on to a higher consciousness. With Steve Albini at the helm as both engineer and producer, the transcendent sounds achieved on this double 45rpm LP are enough to turn your home into a virtual mosque at Maghrib. A religious experience at high volumes indeed!
