Salamanda – In Parallel

After a year of touring extensively, Seoul-based leftfield electronics duo Salamanda return to present their most refined offering yet inspired by the processes and instruments acquired during their travels. The familiar mallet sounds, ancient textures, and playfully organic melodies are all still here, but it feels like the now have their sound completely dialed in with one added element: vocals. “Homemade Jam” almost has a pop catchiness to it at first, though any expectations are thrown out midway as the track morphs into a sort of free-form saxophone and electronics improv jam. “Paper Labyrinth” and “Tonal, Fluid” push almost into club territory with 4/4 and broken kick patterns suggesting some time well spent on dancefloors around the world.
