Th Blisks – Elixa

Recorded in a bedroom studio in Camperdown, Sydney, Ten Dubs That Shook The World is a heavyweight private press gem combining Jamaican dub with UK industrial and post-punk. Electronic drums, ’80s synthesizers, sub-heavy bass guitar, and melodica meet cavernous, ice cold dubwise effects processing that’s as much Throbbing Gristle as it is Lee “Scratch” Perry or Adrian Sherwood. Interestingly, Ten Dubs That Shook The World can also be compared to the works of UK digi-roots artists like Aba-Shanti-I, Mixman, Jonah Dan, and others, though the album precedes their work by quite a few years. While its unlikely that any of those artists had ever heard of Sheriff Lindo, the album has certainly filled its own prophecy as the tracks have over the years made their way into record bags around the world. From EM Records who have repressed the album for the third time in 2025: “There are certain albums which shake the world immediately upon release, and others which come from far underground and whose shocks and aftershocks rise to the surface gradually over the years, gaining momentum and power.”
