Legendary “she-punk” Vivien Goldman first cut her teeth working with Bob Marley & the Wailers at Island Records before becoming a regular contributor to British weeklies such as NME, Sounds, and Melody Maker, where she chronicled the merging of punk and new wave with African and Caribbean rhythms. Resolutionary compiles Goldman’s musical output from her early days as a founding member of experimental new wave group The Flying Lizards to her later duo project Chantage with Afro-Parisian chanteuse Eve Blouin. Largely produced by On-U Sound’s Adrian Sherwood, the collection showcases Goldman’s singular voice and perspective, covering everything from lost loves to racist violence in the UK to toxic masculinity. “History, history, hypocrisy / But you can still make money / By singing sweet songs of love.”
