Wamdue Kids – These Branching Moments
Wamdue Kids is the short-lived house music project by three guys named Chris – Brann, Clarke, and Udoh. The Atlanta based trio was first discovered in 1995 by Detroit’s Kelli Hand aka K-Hand who released the group’s first three EP’s on her Acacia imprint. The Kids’ final LP These Branching Moments was released in 1996 on legendary UK label Peacefrog and would be their most high profile outing. Atmospheric pads, rolling basslines, and tribal percussion are the core elements here building perfect, deep house grooves that often come with an infectious synth/piano melody. There are a few samples to spot on this one including the drums from Sun Palace’s “Rude Movements” on “These Branching Moments” and Jaco Pastorius’ “Portrait of Tracy” on “Intro.”
