Storytelling through culture, art, and music with Artform Radio’s Sonrisita.
Artform Radio’s Melissa Dueñas aka Sonrisita is a cultural journalist and seasoned soul/funk Chicana DJ. Her work and stories are dually informed by her life experiences in grassroots music communities, and her academic studies at UC Berkeley and USC Annenberg.
Melissa has two online radio residencies: Lowrider Sundays on Dublab and Artform Radio on Worldwide FM. Her journalism has been published on LA Taco, KPCC and KQED. She has published three travel zines in collaboration with photographer Valerie J. Bower. She is also the creator of East Side Story Project, a multi-platform documentary about oldies culture.
