Freedom from Famine: Palestine and Sudan Fundraiser Tape
Support humanitarian aid to Palestine and Sudan by pre-ordering this 100+ track compilation curated by The Growth Eternal.
As the rain comes down in Los Angeles on this first day of 2026, we point our eyes and ears elsewhere in the world where war has left millions in need of humanitarian support. In Palestine, essential aid – including food, medicine, shelter, and hygiene items – continues to be delayed or denied to Gaza by the Isreali government, while in Sudan, one of the largest humanitarian crises ever recorded continues to get worse.
Bassist / composer Ghalani of Greenwood aka The Growth Eternal, who you might recognize from his recent work with Music from Memory’s Total Blue, has organized musicians and artists from Los Angeles’ vibrant ambient / experimental / jazz scene to aid in famine relief (food, water, and medical support). Co-curated alongside Berlin-based label Care Of, Palestine and Sudan: Freedom from Famine Fundraiser Tape features over 100 tracks from LA luminaries like Carlos Niño, Nate Mercereau, Matthewdavid, Low Leaf, Lionmilk, Baths, along with other artists from around the world.
Highly recommended for fans of spiritual jazz, Leaving Records’ world of experimental ambient, delicate folk songs, and post-beat-scene hip-hop / R&B, the compilation is a gorgeous snapshot of Los Angeles’ continually evolving underground electronic music scene. Voices feature prominently across the collection with many songs reflecting on healing, family, identity, and home. Saxophones, traditional instruments, Rhodes piano, and strings weave through ambient textures and electronic beats.
All funds from sales will be split 50/50:
Sudan: Food and medical support via Khartoum Aid Kitchen
Palestine (Gaza): Frontline water-relief efforts via Water Is Life Gaza
