Next up in our Home Listening series we have a special playlist from our friend Parker, who runs the excellently curated peasantries + pleasantries record shop. Parker was a key vendor at our record fairs back before the lockdown slinging the best “old is new” ambient, folk, new age, and jazz releases. Here are some notes from Parker about the mix:
“Ten Elations + Ten Meditations is an homage to In Sheep’s Clothing…my favorite bar for grounded and intentional vinyl listening. Inspired by the sound shifts of service from day into night. The “A-Side” is comprised of ten elations spanning various disciplines and genres. Most of these tracks are pulled from select -recent- archival/reissues. Originals for some fetch hefty prices. The “B-Side” is comprised of ten meditations, both organic and synthesized. Glistening airs, pleasant drifts, and harmonic shimmers that slowly unfold, seduced by slumber. The tracks herein are predominantly contemporary favorites. Nostalgia may not be as good as it used to be but it would be a disservice to ignore these modern delicacies. Enjoy!”
