Hey friends! It’s been a little while since our last update… Things have been moving along here at In Sheep’s Clothing HQ with our pop-up shop in collaboration with dublab becoming a dedicated space for us to gather, listen, and share music together. A few recent event highlights include: a rare live ambient set from Nabihah Iqbal, over 2000+ records imported from South America on sale through El Marchante, and an exclusive pre-listening party of Alice Coltrane’s unreleased Carnie Hall Concert. While never intended to be permanent, this space has been a small, but important reminder of how community can build through a welcoming physical space that’s open to all.

During our extended pop-up, we’ve begun to steadily grow our shop selection in order to fill the massive space at ROW DTLA. The store is now filled with hundreds of curated selections from all over the world including releases from micro-labels, specialist distributors, independent artists, private sellers, and more. Each selection is handpicked by our staff with an overarching goal of supporting independent music communities, building connections, and encouraging new discoveries in sound.

With that same ethos in mind, we’ve decided to expand our webstore to include the selections featured in our physical store along with an improved design, new features, and more developed in collaboration with our friends at bean.la.

The new store features include:

• • An expanded selection with hundreds of carefully curated records. Trust – we’ve personally listened to every record featured here and would recommend everything that we sell!

• • Handwritten write-ups and recommendations from In Sheep’s Clothing staff.
• • Join the record club! A button will now appear in the shop’s sidebar whenever spots are open.

While there is a dedicated person behind the store buying at In Sheep’s Clothing, the curation behind the shop selections has always been a reflection of our collective listening habits. You’ll notice dub and reggae are a focus as well as downtempo grooves and the more ambient-leaning club sounds that you might hear on our radio shows. Many of the selections are also pulled from our staff pick Now Sound features. In the spirit of discovery, each of us have shared a personal favorite record that is currently available in the shop.

Time Warp – Spiro World

Listening to this record feels like being taken on a spontaneous road trip with no particular destination. Verdant rolling hills, desolate deserts,  the slow winding up soaring snow capped mountains, a midnight beach side picnic; each track has a distinct personality, while meandering between jazz, techno, classical, and funk. Easily a new favorite.
