Chicago house music pioneer Larry Heard steps away from the dance floor to circle back on the downtempo and ambient themes previously explored on his 1996 album Alien. With Genesis, however, Heard introduces the use of vocals into his music for the first time since the Mr. Fingers era in 1994. Possibly titled as a nod to the turn of the millennium soon to come, this record also serves as a genesis for the digital production techniques Heard would begin to implement into his ever progressing sound. A soulful journey through a wide range of modern electronica styles, Genesis is arguably Heard’s most pristine and timeless work to date.
