Moufang, Czamanski – Recreational Kraut

“Girl/Boy is a companion EP to the RDJ album – released a few months before it to provide a taster of James’ continued ventures into drill ‘n’ bass. The strongest link comes from the presence of the title track in three different versions, and a handful of miscellaneous tracks from the time. The EP has the rare distinction of featuring James on vocals, that are – for the most part – untampered with: most notably on “Milk Man” and “Beetles.” The cover was a point of discussion at the time, depicting a gravestone bearing the name Richard James. Many journalists said it was a morbid prank by James. But, as it transpired, the gravestone belonged to James’ brother (also named Richard) who, sadly, died at birth. He is potentially the sibling indicated by the ‘twin’ in the Aphex Twin moniker.” – Beau Waddell, from On track… Aphex Twin
