葉麗儀 – 愛你愛你

One of the most prolific Hong Kong Cantopop singers, 葉麗儀 aka Frances Yip released more than eighty albums over the course of her forty year career. A multilingual talent, Yip recorded songs in Mandarin, Cantonese, English, Indonesian, Thai, Malay, Spanish, Japanese, and Tagalog, earning her an international fanbase. Her 1969 debut album 愛你愛你 (Love You, Love You) is a pre-Cantopop collection of English cover songs sung in Mandarin Chinese. The album heavily features the organ along with plucked almost surf rock-like guitar, giving these traditional pop songs a dreamy feel that perfectly complements the dynamic range of Yip’s voice as she effortlessly flows between light and delicate tones and resonant bursts of emotion.
