Korean pop star 장필순 (Jang Pil-Soon)’s debut album 어느새 / 내작은 가슴속에 (Suddenly/In My Little Heart) was produced by pioneering Korean soul artist Kim Hyun-Chul. The album takes cues from Korean folk, Japanese city pop, American soul, and R&B with the incredible opening track “어느 새” sounding almost like a Korean Sade with its smooth percussion, latin jazz guitar, and smooth production. Pil-Soon’s perfectly subdued and breathy vocals shine throughout the album with tracks like B2 “나는 여기에 (I Am Here)” highlighting the singer’s control and ability to float over a track.
