Dunkelziffer – In the Night

A lost album trip-hop album released a few years after the genre’s golden era, Dum Dum Baby is the second and final album by British group Baby Fox. The album explores darker atmospheres than their acclaimed debut A Normal Family blending R&B and pop-leaning female vocals with spoken word and heavy dubwise grooves. Highlight “Fury To Forgiveness” reminds us a lot of Mad Professor and Massive Attack’s storied collaborations or Colourbox’s iconic “Baby I Love You So.” The story goes that Universal’s label restructuring saw the band moved to metal and hard rock label Roadrunner Records, who had no interest in the band, and shelved the record almost immediately after its release with no singles or music video promos. Baby Fox disbanded shortly afterwards.
