Bobby Caldwell – Carry On
The underrated Bobby Caldwell album, Carry On sees the pop funk soul singer dive into deeper subjects beyond love and simple attraction. A2 “Sunny Hills” almost sounds like a Steely Dan tune, funky and sophisticated with lyrics about sending someone to a retirement home. The cut here though is the last track on the album which also happens to be the title track. “Carry On” provides some solid advice to a lost lover, possibly a friend or someone closer. “I offer you philosophy the one thing you should do, carry on.” It’s a love song for sure, classic Caldwell, but know that these words ring true for most of life’s problems.
