Cheryl Glasgow – Glued to the Spot
Recently reissued by Numero Group, Cheryl Glasgow’s “Glued to the Spot” is a perfect sunshine clubber that fuses together Sade-adjacent lovers rock vocals with street soul, boogie, synth brass, and balearic guitar strumming. One of those truly infectious records that you never get tired of hearing, “Glued to the Spot” was a favorite of radio DJ’s from the greater London Club Scene in the late ’80s. The original 12″ on producer Ross Anderson’s short-lived Live Records is the version to have (if you’re lucky enough to find a copy) with its miniature, salmon colored figurines on the cover. There’s not much information available on Glasgow though she does have one other lovers rock release with Anderson on Code Records. No sound clips for that one online, so this is likely all we’ll get to hear of that incredible carefree voice…
