DJ Lycox – Lycoxera

Ivanilson Martins aka DJ Lycox is an Afro-Portuguese producer spearheading the contemporary club sound of Lisbon alongside Príncipe Discos contemporaries DJ Marfox, DJ Danifox, and DJ N**** Fox. Blending batida, kuduru, tarraxo and Afro house, Lycox’s music is energetic and polyrhythmic featuring Soca and Zouk-based percussion samples, lilting key stabs, deep subs, and vocal mantras. “Rapaz Sinistro” is as futuristic as it gets with a sort of whirring machine sound riding alongside a sawtooth wave and percussive melody. “Eu Mbora Dou Bué Show” feels like a perfect vibe setter with a push-pull tension utilizing well-timed batida percussion breaks and a deeply infectious vocal. “Momentos Únicos” closes out the EP with a melodic excursion through digital piano, synthesizers, sampled brass.
