Experimental works of avant-pop and downtempo from Swiss art school students Elephant Château. On the A side “Dreamings,” warm analog synthesizers meet saxophones, and a vocal chorus while a driving drum machine groove pushes along with cutting bass guitar. The blend of electronic with live instruments makes for a perfectly other-worldy kind of atmosphere that’s enhanced by the strange falsetto vocal. This 12″ is a bit harder to find, but luckily Bureau B recently released a complete compilation of the group’s work. Recommended for fans of Zru Vogue, Maximum Joy, Music from Memory’s Uneven Paths compilation, etc.
