Folie 2 is an exciting new project from Düsseldorf-based musicians Marlene Kollender, Gregor Darman and Sebastian Welicki. Their debut self-titled album is a delightfully strange cosmos of sounds reminiscent of some of our favorite records. Coldwave, tropical soft rock, ethereal drones, post-punk, hi-NRG, deviant pop, and more. Singer Marlene Kollender’s delivery hits a sort of Slits Ari Up zone on B2 “Night Times.” B3 “Disco (Be My Time)” is a perfect hi-NRG chugger that’s sure to wreak havoc on dancefloors in Germany and beyond. A4 “Confrontation” is maybe the most modern-leaning of the tracks and sounds connected to the music played by Lena Willikens, Tolouse Low Trax, and others at the legendary Salon Des Amateurs.
