Gino Soccio released his third album in 1981 titled Closer, consisting of 6 major tunes that hit every emotion. The opening song “Try It Out,” is a disco gem that features Soccio’s signature italo-disco sound of shimmering synths and funky grooves. The song is a perfect example of Soccio’s ability to blend disco and funk seamlessly, creating a sound that’s both timeless and modern. B2 is an italo-disco cover of the Bill Withers Song “Love Is” and Soccio does an amazing job of making the track his own. The album ends on a gentle note with the title track, a beautifully simple instrumental. With virtuosic production done by Soccio himself, Closer is a classic dance record you don’t want to overlook. – Ally
