French pianist, guitarist, composer Henri Roger’s first album Images… is a beautiful collection of left-field electronics comparable to Heldon, Conrad Schnitzler, early Tangerine Dream, Mort Garson, Roedelius, and Brian Eno. Roger plays all the instruments himself including Yamaha YC45D organ, Mini Korg Elka Rhapsody synth, and guitar. With only a few instruments, Roger explores a wide range of tonalities from almost proto 8-bit video game sounds to quiet, meditative ambient, to wild, cosmic synth freak outs. Side 1 features one long synth composition “Images” while the second side contains guitar mixed with synths and even a pastoral acoustic folk track “Ataraxie.”
