Gino Soccio – Closer

Isis was a pioneering all-female rock band from New York formed in 1972 by Carol MacDonald (vocals/guitar) and Ginger Bianco (drums), former members of 1960s rock band Goldie & The Gingerbreads. Named after the Egyptian goddess, they were the fifth all-female band to sign to a major label (Buddha Records). Their debut self-titled album is a cult classic featuring multiple distinctive voices, drum breaks, percussion, and a powerful horn section. The group’s sound has been compared to Chicago, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Earth Wind & Fire, and Santana, as well as Black Sabbath, Yes and Jethro Tull. A2 “Everybody Needs A Forever” is a beautiful soulful rock ballad that, like many of the tracks, is built on a core of Carol MacDonald’s gruff blues-rock vocals and a smooth horn arrangement.
