Noah Howard – Olé
“New Orleans – birthplace of the jazz tradition. April 6, 1943 – Aries, symbol of the creative spirit; dynamic, intense; agent for change. Appropriate beginnings for an artist destined to make his imprint on the world of contemporary music. And the beginnings were as one would expect: blues as lullabies from the cradle, and of course gospel on Sundays. Grandpa was a preacher, and Noah learned the art of inspiring others way back then. He says of that period, “In New Orleans up to my sixteenth year, I listened to all kinds of music: blues, gospel, jazz… they are all solid roots… my first influence on sax was Paul Gonsalves with Ellington at Newport, ‘Diminuendo and Crescendo in Blue.’ I was upset! I wanted to play like this!”
