Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, sometimes credited as Rob Lowe or Robert A.A. Lowe, is an artist, curator, and composer who utilizes processed voice and modular synthesis to create entrancing improvised electronic pieces. Previously a member of Chicago based progressive rock band 90 Day Men in the ’90s, Lowe has since toured with Explosions in the Sky, collaborated with new age pioneer Ariel Kalma, and played tambura for stoner/doom metal band Om. 2016’s Thought Withdrawal is one of Lowe’s strongest solo releases and stretches, splits, and deconstructs cello motifs into gorgeous extended minimal compositions. The piece was comprised of video and sound installations with an art exhibition of the same name.
