Double Fantasy – Universal Ave

One of the seminal electronic albums of the early 90’s, Kitchen by German duo Max Loderbauer (the son of a composer) and Tom Thiel (a studio engineer) is a heady trip through sonic futurism and blissful melodic ambient. The album strikes a perfect balance of bedroom listening and club-ready dancefloor tracks that seem to altogether incite a deeply calming feeling while also appealing to the mind with classic chill-out vocal samples. The album has filled with highlights “Sarotti,” a gorgeous melody-driven composition split in two halves, “Sonification,” a bleep-y electric forest exploration type track, and “Beauty L’Occo,” a low-tempo ethereal cruiser that bounces along plucked strings and a sinister funky bassline. Highly recommended for fans of Future Sound of London, The Orb Orbital, Warp Records’ Artificial Intelligence, etc.
