Tara Clerkin Trio – On The Turning Ground

Bristol’s Tara Clerkin Trio continues a streak of unmissable releases with On The Turning Ground, their most mature outing yet, on World of Echo. Baroque classical guitar and bowed strings are the centerpieces this time around while downtempo breakbeats and ’90s rave electronics are bent into avant-pop stylings in the absurdly creative ways we’ve come to know and love from this group. While the inspirations might be “centreless… the trio still possess a very obvious anchor in the form of their hometown” – this music can only have come from Bristol with its rich heritage of electronic subcultures and experimental music. Won’t be long now before this group blows up in an even bigger way… If you’re a fan, we highly recommend listening to the trio’s NTS Radio show which shares the same wild off-centre mixing of genres as their music.
