Released late 2023, ALWAYS + FOREVER is the first compilation from do you have peace?, a Bristol-based label founded by Amos Childs (Jabu / Young Echo / O$VMV$M). Branching further out from their local scene, the compilation collects tracks from likeminded dub-infused, ethereal, dream pop-minded music artists like Equiknoxx’s Time Cow, HTRK’s Jonnine, Tarquin Manek (Silzedrek, Kallista Kult, M. Quake) and sometime collaborator YL Hooi, alongside the usual suspects from the Jabu extended family. All the tracks are great but we’re particularly into Teresa Winter’s “Juniper,” which is a somewhat creepy (in a good way) head-bobber of a dream pop track featuring crunchy downtempo drum loop, whispered vocals and a distorted synth lead that slithers along through the entire track. The compilation closes out beautifully on a trio of chamber pieces recorded in intimate settings: “a box room in a flat, a bedroom, a memory of lying awake staring at the ceiling and trying to go to sleep again.”
