Alto – Happy Ambrosia

Melbourne’s Efficient Space does it again with their latest compilation Someone Like Me, a collection of tender folk songs compiled by musician, engineer, “armchair digger” Mikey Young. Tracing songs of love and loss across English counties, Pacific Northwest retreats, through to the big city bustle of Sydney and Los Angeles, the compilation captures a universally relatable sense of longing from lonely dreamers, U.S. Navy recruits, seasoned players, all the way to Black Catholics, Seventh-day Adventists, and other spiritual acts. Sharkey’s “Someone Like Me” encapsulates the vibe perfectly with it’s horseshoe percussion and laid-back vocal delivery. Charles Murphy’s “The Foot That’s Holding Me Down” is another clear highlight featuring one of those timeless vocal performances that reaches deep into your soul.
