Dope From Hope: The first-ever publication of Paul W. Klipsch’s cult audio newsletters
Love Injection has launched a Kickstarter campaign to publish a compendium of Klipsch’s Dope From Hope newsletters.
Here’s some big news for all our fellow Klipsch fans… Nearly five years in the making, the Dope from Hope Kickstarter is finally live! Produced independently by our friends Paul Raffaele & Barbie Bertisch of New York’s Love Injection Fanzine, the limited 30-day Kickstarter campaign is raising funds to publish the first-ever compendium of Paul W. Klipsch’s long lost audio newsletters, Dope from Hope, which will be available exclusively to contributors. The project is endorsed by the Klipsch Museum of Audio History, a non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve the legacy of Klipsch-related artifacts, and Klipsch Group International.
So what is Dope from Hope?
The name refers to the town of Hope, Arkansas where Paul W. Klipsch lived, founded the company, where the Klipsch Heritage speakers are still produced today, and home to the Klipsch Museum of Audio History. The cult audio papers date back to 1960 and were in circulation for decades serving as a sort of “Rosetta Stone of modern hi-fi sound” for dealers and customers to experiment with, enhance, learn about, and enjoy better sound at home. The papers would famously reach and influence David Mancuso’s legendary Klipschorn-powered Loft parties, cementing their place in dance music history.
Watch the Kickstarter campaign video below, which includes interviews with Klipsch Museum of Audio History Engineer & Curator Jim Hunter and Colleen “Cosmo” Murphy, a close friend of David Mancuso.
The Dope from Hope audio newsletters will be reproduced as an elegant cloth-covered hardback with 300 full-color pages in the paper’s original dimensions, making it the perfect size to fit both record shelf or coffee table. These historic documents scanned in hi-resolution are essential to the next generation of audio enthusiasts and make a great addition to any Klipsch fan’s collection.
