The unexpected first time collaborative effort by experimental electronic musicians Alessandro Cortini (Nine Inch Nails) and Daniel Avery was created remotely across several times zones over several years. While the two may not have been physically in the same space through most of production, the lush dreamscape textures that they created on Illusion Of Time are delicately cohesive in a way many records are not. The oscillating dark and brooding intensity conjured up here play out as the perfect backdrop to the collective isolation of the recent pandemic. Harmonically sinister, yet melodically soothing, this record conjures up a dystopian universe with its distorted celestial passages. The sweeping meditative synth patterns and fuzzed out guitar drones, just kind of lull you into a healing trance, and sweep you into a blissful abyss.
