Stereolab – Dots and Loops
Featured in the “Psychedelic” section of Chee Shimizu’s Obscure Sound disc guide, For You is the private pressed solo debut of Angelo Noce Santoro. A founding member of legendary Dutch psych-prog band Cosmic Dealer, Santoro is a virtuoso level guitar guitar player with multifaceted talent on full display here as he handles bass, acoustic & electric guitars, flute and percussion across the album’s nine original compositions. The sound is a unique mix of latin-funk-psych-prog with trippy production, flutes, exotic percussion, and Thai / Brazilian influences. Check A5 “Raindance” for a deep, percussive trip into the rainforest that sounds quite a bit like electronic dance music.
