BJ Cole – Transparent Music
B.J. Cole was the premier session steel guitarist for many English artists and groups during the late ’60s, ’70s, and beyond including Scott Walker, Marc Bolan, Björk and Luke Vibert. Transparent Music is his second solo release and features hazy ambient renditions of Satie, Debussy, and Ravel along with a few original compositions. “This recording features BJ Cole’s extraordinary facility on the steel guitar. In his hands, the instrument moves through an amazing spectrum of expression: gently calling, murmuring, whispering, weeping, then soaring and singing.” Danny Thompson from Pentangle and John Martyn fame provides some expectedly gorgeous double bass on a few tracks.
