Colin Broster – The Compromise
A private press “jangle-pop” gem picked up in the UK by Bruno of Perfect Lives, The Compromise is perfect low budget crying music featuring drum box grooves, washed out guitar, amateur mixing, and sad boy songwriting. Colin Broster is the endearing central figure here behind it all, composing and playing all the instruments, and even designing the wonderfully apt seashell air balloon cover artwork. Seemingly always stuck in a liminal state, Brewster croons about loves lost and beginning, “I got somebody else’s heart on my mind…” Recommended for fans of Naffi, Roland Ray, Gary Wilson, and Cleaners from Venus.
