Heldon – αλετεια
Much like their debut Electronique Guerilla, Heldon’s sophomore album is still very much inspired by Robert Fripp’s “Frippertronics.” However, along with the usual No Pussyfooting tape guitar loops and synth experiments, Allez-Téia (αλετεια) presents a softer side of the Heldon sound with a few gorgeous acoustic guitar solos and duets. Some might find the mix of styles and moods a little jarring, but for others (like this writer) the organic acoustic melodies contrasted with the haunting mellotron make for a perfect full listen. Liner notes include special thanks to Heldon’s heroes including Robert Fripp, Brian Eno, Jimi Hendrix, Genghis Khan, and Phil Dick.
