Husikesque is a collaboration between Washington D.C. singer-songwriter Lida Husik and British ambient electronic musicians Beaumont Hannant and Richard Brown. Their lone album Green Blue Fire follows up the sounds developed on 1994’s Evening At The Grange and Ormeau: Husik’s crystalline vocals and sophisticated indie pop songwriting meeting Hannant’s breakbeats and chill-out room IDM. Striking a perfect balance between club-centric sounds and home listening, the album sounds surprisingly relevant in today’s trip-hop revival era and is due for a re-evaluation. Green Blue Fire seems to have quickly faded into obscurity after its release in 1996, and Husik headed back into rock instrumentation. The album remains heavily underrated though Björk was supposedly a huge fan, and actually tapped Hannant for a set of remixes of her seminal track “Hyperballad.”
