Jah Shaka – Warrior (Commandments Of Dub Chapter 7)

Part seven of Jah Shaka’s Commandments of Dub series, Warrior is a collection of spiritual roots music of the highest order featuring the Jah Shaka All Stars and The Fasimbas. Heavyweight dubs, the music here is raw and minimal in that classic Shaka-style with sub-heavy bass and spring reverb drums carrying the groove while keyboards and bits of guitar are echo’d in and out of Shaka’s delicately crafted sonic space. During this ’80s period, Shaka’s music would start to incorporate more electronic instruments and later even MPC electronic grooves. Chapter 7 utilizes warm, analog synthesizers for trippier, almost cosmic atmospheres. As usual with Shaka productions, there’s also plenty of Nyahbinghi drumming delivering that ceremonial Rastafarian feel that’s so crucial to his deeply organic sound.
