Javier Bergia – Eclipse

A crucial collection of balearic jazz folk from Spanish singer, guitar player, songwriter Javier Bergia, Eclipse followed a string of reissues surrounding Spanish ambient collective Finis Africae. Bergia was a founding member of the influential group and his solo productions feature the same sort of fourth world ambient sound though Bergia’s guitars and vocals are much more front and center here. As expected, all the tracks picked by Emotional Rescue’s Stuart Leath and Richard “Moonboots” Bithell are excellent though we especially love the cruising percussion and guitars of A2 “Adios Tren De Jaipur” and the ethereal vocals of A5 “Tierra A La Vista.” Recommended for fans of fourth world, Suso Sáiz, Music from Memory, Gigi Masin, etc.
