Luc Marianni – Six Synthetic Suites
A French oddity from multi-instrumentalist / underground icon Luc Marianni, Six Synthetic Suites combines a modern classical composition approach with experimental and avant-garde electronic production. Each of the synthetic suites features a traditional instrument (clarinet, guitar, voice, piano, bass, orchestra) alongside strange drum programming and glitchy synthesizers. Closer “Final Suite” hits an interesting sort of avant-post-punk zone with a straightforward dance beat played on drum machine and somewhat funky bassline. A4 “Synthetic Suite N°4 Pour Voix Féminine” is also great with a space age spoken vocal and some random processing/sampling.
