Mu – Paris Hilton

From the wonderfully twisted minds of Japanese performance artist Mutsumi Kanamori and Sheffield via Baltimore house music producer Maurice Fulton, Mu is an electronic pop outfit that released some of the most idiosyncratic dance-floor fillers of the early ‘00s. “Paris Hilton” rides on a crispy 808 groove and acid bassline that breaks down into squelching chicken noises from Mutsumi as she regales in the “natural beauty” and “silver spoon champagne baths” of reality tv star Paris Hilton. While the track might seem like a piss take, in actuality it’s more of a playful homage: “She’s beautiful and has a style,” says Mutsumi. “I’ve been a fan for a long time.”
