The Harder They Come

The greatest rhythm section in reggae music (possibly all music), Sly Dunbar & Robbie Shakespeare, present a collection of original dub tracks for Joe Gibbs Music. Sly & Robbie probably need no introduction here, but just in case they do, the duo has played on over 200,000 recordings with artists from Grace Jones to Bob Dylan and were the the core of Island Records’ legendary Compass Point All Stars band. The title of the album likely refers to the deep, syncopated dub grooves that the duo pioneered in Jamaica and became known for around the world. The tracks here feature some really nice and warm analog synthesizers that give the dubs an especially trippy and futuristic sound. Check the title track “Syncopation” and “Space Invaders.”
